De jury, onder voorzitterschap van de in Engeland bekende radiopresentator Evan Davis, zal op 1 juli de winnaar bekendmaken. Die ontvangt £ 20.000,-; elke genomineerde ontvangt £ 1.000,-.
De BBC Samuel Johnson Prize is de belangrijkste Britse prijs voor het beste non-fictieboek en is in 1999 ingesteld.
